Catalytic Converter System
Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
The TWC converts hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) in the exhaust gas to carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen (N2), and water vapor.
Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) (for some models)
The Gasoline Particulate Filter is a device to remove particulate matter (PM) or soot from exhaust gas of a gasoline engine. The Gasoline Particulate Filter has functions to trap and temporarily accumulate the PM in exhaust gas, and the PM is burned and removed from the Gasoline Particulate Filter when the exhaust gas temperature is high.
