DTC B0020-11: Short to Ground in the Left Side Airbag Inflator

DTC B0020-11 Overview

If a current (or voltage) on the detection line inside the SRS unit is higher than a specified value, the SRS unit determines an abnormality and stores the DTC.

Inspection Outline

The components to be tested are indicated by a dotted line.

Inspection Items
  1. Left Side Airbag Inspection
  2. External Circuit LFSA+, LFSA- Shorted Wire Inspection
  3. SRS Unit Inspection
NOTICE:

Before disconnecting the SRS related connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure and wait for at least 3 minutes.

NOTE:

Since there is no direct method to test the component itself, troubleshooting is performed on the related components.

1. Left Side Airbag Inspection

  • Test Procedure

Left side airbag circuit inspection

  • Preparation

-Left side airbag inflator 2P connector: disconnected

  • Procedure

Perform the confirmation procedure.

  • Normal Conditions

DTC B0020-11 is not indicated.

  • Results

If it is normal, there is a problem with the left side airbag.
If it is abnormal, there is a problem with other related components.

2. External Circuit LFSA+, LFSA- Shorted Wire Inspection

  • Test Procedure
Preparation
  • -SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected
  • -Left side airbag inflator 2P connector: disconnected
Procedure

-Perform the inspection according to the following table.

  • Results

If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

3. SRS Unit Inspection

  • Test Procedure
If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining SRS unit is the cause.
  • Results
There is a problem with the SRS unit. DTC B0013-1A

Confirmation Procedure

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
