DTC B0028-12: Short to Power in the Right Side Airbag Inflator

DTC B0028-12 Overview

If a voltage on the detection line inside the SRS unit is higher than a specified value, the SRS unit determines an abnormality and stores the DTC.

Inspection Outline

The components to be tested are indicated by a dotted line.


Inspection Items
  1. Right Side Airbag Inspection
  2. External Circuit RFSA+, RFSA- Shorted Wire Inspection
  3. SRS Unit Inspection
NOTICE:
Before disconnecting the SRS related connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure and wait for at least 3 minutes.
NOTE:
Since there is no direct method to test the component itself, troubleshooting is performed on the related components.

1. Right Side Airbag Inspection

  • Test Procedure

Right side airbag circuit inspection

  • Preparation

Right side airbag inflator 2P connector: disconnected

  • Procedure

Perform the confirmation procedure.

  • Normal Conditions

DTC B0028-12 is not indicated.

  • Results

  1. If it is normal, there is a problem with the right side airbag.
  2. If it is abnormal, there is a problem with other related components.

2. External Circuit RFSA+, RFSA- Shorted Wire Inspection

Test Procedure
  • Preparation
  1. SRS unit connector B (57P): disconnected
  2. Right side airbag inflator 2P connector: disconnected
  • Procedure
Perform the inspection according to the following table.

  • Results

If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

3. SRS Unit Inspection

  • Test Procedure
If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining SRS unit is the cause.
  • Results
There is a problem with the SRS unit.

Confirmation Procedure

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
